
Maricel Lucero - History
A native of Santiago de Cuba, Maricel came to the U.S. with her parents at the age of 10 but has never lost her passion for Cuban music. She is an award-winning soprano, well known for her performances in a variety of genres including opera, musical theater, and Latin American music. She has sung leading roles with such groups as Opera North, Vermont Opera Theater, and The Weston Playhouse. She has appeared as guest soloist with The Vermont Symphony Orchestra, The Lakes Regions Orchestra and The World Music Percussion Ensemble. Her CD, "Canciones de mi Tierra" or "Songs from my Homeland" features a collection of Cuban songs, both traditional and modern, that has delighted listeners throughout the country.
